Apple Inc’s founder and chief executive Steve Jobs interrupted his medical leave on Wednesday to be present at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts for the launch of the highly anticipated iPad 2, which is a thinner, faster and lighter version of its predecessor.

Verizon Wireless stopped selling online Apple Inc’s iPhone on Thursday evening, after registering record sales, surpassing its previous launch-day phone sales record in just two hours on the ViPhone pre-order day.

NBC News confirmed the rumor about firing the employee who leaked the 16-year-old “Today” footage, showing anchors Bryant Gumble and Katie Couric struggling to understand the then-new email and the Internet, while talking nonsense about something outside of their expertise.

News Corp., the parent company of the Wall Street Journal, the New York Post and Fox News, launched its latest product, this time being one especially designed for the iPad. It is a tablet-only news application entitled the Daily which, according to Rupert Murdoch, the company’s founder, chairman and CEO, will be an “indispensable source of news” in the tablet era.
