Research performed in the United Kingdom shows that almost three quarters of mobile phone subscribers are wasting an average of nearly £200 on misjudged contracts, totaling nearly £5 billion a year in the UK. The main cause is that people believe they will spend more minutes on the phone than they do in the end.

Although indebted to the UK and Netherlands, Iceland has rejected the two parties’ latest plan to repay the approximately 4 billion euros lost when the latter’s banking system collapsed in 2008.

If certain regulations do not make you think twice before you consume alcohol heavily, maybe the fact that one too many drinks can increase the risk of cancer will. A recent study suggests that drinking more than a pint of beer every day substantially increases the risk of developing cancer.

Ratings agency Moody’s warned that Britain’s AAA debt rating could be downgraded if the economic growth doesn’t rise up to expectations and the government responded by slowing down its deficit reduction plan. The agency’s warning came on Thursday, after finance minister George Osborne revealed lower growth forecasts in his 2011 Budget a day before.
